We build calculators that show their working. This page explains who is behind them, how they are checked, and what to do when one is wrong.

What we do

Most calculator sites hand you a number and nothing else. That is fine until the number matters — when you are deciding whether to refinance, how much protein to eat, or whether a wire gauge is safe. On every tool page we print the formula, name the standard it comes from, and show the intermediate figures, so you can check the result instead of trusting it.

How a calculator gets built

1. We start from a published, citable source: a regulator, a standards body, a peer-reviewed paper or a textbook. The IRS for tax brackets, the WHO for BMI bands, the NEC for conductor resistance, the Institute of Medicine for pregnancy weight ranges.
2. The formula is implemented in plain JavaScript and checked against at least one independent reference implementation — usually a spreadsheet built by hand from the source.
3. We write the explanation, the worked steps and the FAQ, then read them back against the question a visitor actually typed into a search box.
4. The page is dated. When the underlying figures change — brackets, contribution limits, mileage rates — the tool and the date are updated together.

Where we are careful

A formula is a model, and every model leaves something out. Our mortgage tools ignore lender-specific fees. Our health tools use population averages that will not describe every individual. Our tax tools model federal liability, not your return. We say so on the pages where it matters, and we would rather flag a limitation than let a clean-looking number mislead you.

Privacy, plainly

Every calculation runs in your browser. Your income, your weight, your debts and your dates are never sent to our servers, because there is no server-side calculation to send them to. Close the tab and the numbers are gone. See the privacy policy for the full detail.

Corrections

If a result looks wrong, it might be. Send the calculator name, the inputs you used and the answer you expected through the contact form. We check reported errors against the source formula before anything else in our queue, and corrections are published with a dated note on the affected page.
